I read this morning that Atlanta-based AllConnect has closed a $15 round. AllConnect helps people who have moved to sign up for utilities, internet, security systems at their new home. Very simple business model, I like that. Here’s what confuses me about AllConnect. I am on the Internet, I am on your website, but I have to call an 800 number to actually order service? You have three companies offering bundled phone and internet, with this helpful note for all three: “great deals available in your area”. Why don’t you tell me what they are? I have to call an 800 number to learn about the great deals and to sign up? Sorry, but you’re stuck in 1995. Tell me what the options are, and the pricing, and let me sign up on your website.

You may have heard that titles are cheap. Take a look at AllConnect’s management team. I have seen Fortune 500 companies with fewer Executive Vice Presidents.

Here’s something I don’t think I have ever seen. On the bottom of their home page is this disclaimer: “Use of this site signifies your agreement to the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy”. Their terms and conditions state: “By accessing and using Allconnect’s web site, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, then you are requested to immediately exit this site.” What?! Sorry guys, I do not agree to your terms AND I am not going to exit your site. Do you even know how the Internet works? (BTW, how exactly do I “agree” to your Privacy Policy?

I like the concept of AllConnect and I think they are filling a true market need. However, I think they need to bring in some people who understand how to do business on the Internet and soon.
