HP Acquires Atlanta Security Firm SPI Dynamics

Posted on June 21st, 2007 by Paul Freet.

HP announced this week they are acquiring SPI Dynamics. SPI Dynamics launched their first product, WebInspect, a security scanner in April 2001. They raised a Series A round in early 2002, led by Southesatern Technology Fund out of Huntsville. Other investors in the Series A included local firm Gray Ventures, C&B Capital and Jemison Investment Company.

No terms of the deal were announced. Maybe someone who knows can email me and I will update this?

Atlanta certainly has a proclivity for Internet security companies. This deal further reinforces that. Congratulations to Brian Cohen, Caleb Sim and the rest of the SPI team.
